A Pensive Portrait

Montserrat Painting and Drawing Instructor Ian Factor preserved the pensive expression of his colleague, Photography and Video Professor Ethan Berry, during a three-hour oil painting demonstration in October. The demonstrations of oil portraiture will continue throughout the 2010/2011 academic year, with Factor painting several Montserrat faculty, staff and students. On Fri., Nov. 12th, Montserrat College of Art President Stephen Immerman sat for his portrait while Montserrat students looked on and learned.

Portrait Painting Demo a Big Draw

Instructor Ian Factor paints a portrait of Professor Ethan Berry during an open painting demonstration.

As part of its continuing efforts to make art more accessible to its entire community, Montserrat sponsored an open painting demonstration in oil on Friday, Oct. 22nd.  Painting and Drawing Instructor Ian Factor hosted the three-hour event featuring Photography and Video Professor Ethan Berry as his model.  The event, which was the second in a series of art demonstrations planned for the 2010-2011 academic year, was attended by Montserrat students and faculty as well as staff.

Carving Expert Demonstrates

Larry Scanlon of Wenham, renowned bird carver, will be demonstrating his step-by-step techniques for carving, detailing, and final painting of his signature shore bird decoys and song birds at Gallery Della-Piana on Wednesday, July 21 from 6-8 PM.  There will be time for Q&A after the demonstration.  There will be refreshments and a door prize!
