Thank you to Montserrat alumnus Jordan Elquist, student Zac Goldstein, and faculty member Len Thomas-Vickory for teaching young artists about silkscreen printing as well as all the hard work printing the Montserrat Artsfest bags., donated by the college to this year’s ArtsFest Beverly, held Saturday, June 17 on Cabot Street in Beverly. Alumna Bea Modisett had a small gallery set up of works from The Studios at Porter Mills, a new artists’ studio space on Rantoul Street, where she now works as a manager. Montserrat Executive Assistant Donna Musumeci, a Beverly Main Streets board member, also helped out during the festivities. More than 100 artists and artisans, musicans and performers made ArtsFest Beverly the destination on Saturday.

Friday, February 11th, 2011Assistant Dean Marjorie Augenbraum was one of the judges this year for the St. Mary’s School (Beverly) Culturama. The event is a is a Saint Mary School tradition where seventh and eighth graders choose a topic of interest from the Social Studies or Science fields, write a 7-8 pg. research paper (with citations), prepare a 3-4 minute speech supporting their thesis statement, a poster, and a 3-D presentation. Shown here is the project that she judged, “Cell Phones” by Berkeley Gilllan, a seventh grader.

Friday, September 24th, 2010Congrats to Montserrat College of Art student Jensina Ohly! For the first show at the Bear Gallery this year, Jensina Ohly acted as lead curator for the “Wabi Sabi” show. Jensina joined the Bear staff in August. In this position she worked with the Bear Gallery staff and the artists to bring the Bear Gallery space up to speed. This past weekend she collaborated with others to bring together a successful show. As Len Thomas-Vickory stated, “She learned quickly and was incredibly dedicated.”
