Sharing the Journey
by Maureen Beaudet

Reception: Thursday, May 17, 5:30 – 7 pm
The Provident Bank, 1 Provident Way, Seabrook, NH
Exhibiting now through June 2012

Maureen Beaudet is the sister of Montserrat Trustee Board Member, Don Bowen. She is a a self-taught artist whose work reflects her passion for all animals, wild and domestic. Vibrant colors, natural shapes, and the personalities of the animals draw her to certain subjects. Being able to catch a moment in time with a photograph or bringing a subject to life with colored pencils provides Maureen with an opportunity to share a valuable perspective on nature. She discovered her passion for drawing and photographing animals and birds after an injury ended her amateur athletic career. Maureen is a Tufts University graduate and a high school guidance counselor who finds peace and inspiration looking through the lens of the camera or through creating colored pencil portraits.

Artwork may be viewed during branch business hours, seven days a week!

Internship Success Story: Arielle Winchester

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

Arielle Winchester ’12 not only will be graduating from Montserrat College of Art this May with a BFA in Graphic Design, but  she was also chosen by her peers to be their student speaker during Commencement 2012 on Friday, May 25th!

And to top it all off, Winchester already has plans for post-graduation! She has recently been hired for a full-time position at Montserrat’s Board of Trustee member Don Bowen‘s company, Meridian Associates, as their Marketing Coordinator! She was offered the opportunity after interning with them last summer.

During her internship at Meridian, Winchester worked closely with their Business Coordinator, Melissa Fahey, who was planning her wedding at the time. Fahey hired Winchester to do some freelance design work to help create her wedding materials when she wasn’t busy working in the office.

In her work, Winchester hopes to bridge the gap between tactile and digital design. Through her education and freelance work she has gained experience in everything from marketing, to web coding, to letterpress. A tremendous amount of effort, care and passion go into every project that she takes on.

Congratulations, Arielle!

Montserrat community members attended the Art Connection’s first ever Art Bingo event Saturday, March 24, in Boston at City Year headquarters. The event raises money for the national organization’s mission to place art in non-profit organizations and expose under-served populations to the power of art: healing, inspirational and reflective. To date they have placed 5,310 works of art by 357 artists in 312 agencies nationally!

R. Hilliard “Hilly” Ebling, who serves on the Montserrat College of Art Board of Trustees, also serves as a trustee to the Art Connection, and sponsored the college’s attendance at the event. Montserrat is one of several sites across the country taking part in Art Connection!
