Three Montserrat Community Members Participate in Art Installation

June 20, 2013

Three members of the Montserrat College of Art community (Adam Miller ’00, Joshua Morrissette ’00 and Kerry McDermott ’14) are participating in a large-scale public art installation project at the MBTA bridge in downtown Lynn. The public art project is being organized by the Lynn non-profit Centerboard, a downtown Lynn nonprofit organization seeking to revitalize the city focusing on creating opportunities for residents and businesses while building community. This latest project is the third phase of the project, known as Public Art 3.0, which involves beautifying the neighborhood of Central Square as well as supporting independent and emerging artists. Originally started as a project with local teens in a photography class, the public art was so well received the agency decided to keep going, expanding the involvement to working artists looking to make an impact with their art.

The Public Art 3.0 Unveiling will be this Saturday, June 22 at 2:30 pm in Central Square, downtown Lynn, MA.

They are revealing huge works of art that they have been working hard to fund raise for the production. The city of Lynn will also be having live music, a film screening and yard sale while the food and fitness festival will be going on. The Central Square stage and island will feature a wide array of local artists, jewelry makers, crafters and more. Extras for Creative Reuse will have a table on hand with some crafts and even raw materials with which to make your own. The Lynn Cultural Council will help put artists in touch with grant opportunities, and The Food Project will also have a table. Learn more here!
