June 16, 2015

Montserrat College of Art alumnus Andrew Houle ’00 was invited by the iartcolony owners, Bob Armstrong and Jill Whitney Armstrong, to represent Montserrat in the exhibition Motif 2015 on view May 16 – July 31. Learn more at artcolony.com

This exhibit is the first curated by Bob and Jill Armstrong in partnership with the town Festival Committee. It presents an eclectic mix with paintings, conceptual images, the work of a video artist and a sculptural component built in the backyard at the gallery.

In planning for the show, the couple reached out to alumni and faculty of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and Montserrat College of Art in Beverly. Of the 15 artists, 10 are from the Museum School. But it was the paintings of Motif No. 1 by artist Molly Segal that inspired the couple to embark on this path. Among the local artists will be Les Bartlett, Jill Whitney Armstrong, who became an artist member of the Rockport Art Association this past year, and Andrew Houle, a graduate of Montserrat.
