Art Education Initial Licensure Program
Students who have earned a bachelor's degree at another college, may be eligible to enroll
in our teacher preparation program. The review process is very individualized.
Applicants must show a commitment to a studio practice and present a
portfolio that demonstrates a range of studio art experience.
To apply for the art education initial licensure program at Montserrat College of Art:
Students Non-Matriculated for the BFA or Diploma
You may wish to enroll as a part-time student in day courses at Montserrat
without having to be guided by the requirements of the BFA degree or
Diploma program.
In addition to Continuing Education courses, each semester we have an exciting selection of day-time degree program courses offering limited availability for credit or non-credit students who do not intend to matriculate. Foundation level courses do not require a portfolio review for admission. If you seek placement in an advanced level course, you may be asked to submit a portfolio and academic transcripts for the review of the Admissions Office or instructor.
If you would like to audit a course for non-credit or register for credit without matriculation, you should contact the Registrar's Office at 978.921.4242 x1192 for further information.
Non-matriculated students are not eligible for financial aid or for other student benefits such as faculty advisors, semester evaluations, internships, independent study, or enrollment in senior seminar.
Dual Enrollment for High School Students
Highly motivated high school students may enroll in the day program
and earn up to six credits each semester while still attending high
school. Dual enrollment applicants follow the same admissions requirements
as BFA and Diploma candidates but are subject to the same restrictions
as non-matriculated students. If you are interested in dual enrollment,
contact your guidance counselor to learn if credits earned at Montserrat
will apply to your high school graduation requirements. Your high school
must provide written confirmation of approval for dual enrollment.
