Montserrat’s one-month cultural study and tour of Japan runs from late May through late June. Students take a three-credit liberal arts class, Contemporary Japanese Language and Culture, and a three-credit studio art class that explores Japanese art and design.
In addition to working on academic and artistic projects, students travel to many of the historical and cultural centers of Japan including stays in Kyoto, Tokyo, Hiroshima and Sapporo. For the bulk of the trip, students stay in Niigata where Air College provides a home stay with a Japanese college student and their family. Students participate in group art projects and visit several museums and galleries with students from Montserrat’s sister college, Niigata College of Art and Design.
