advising

Montserrat College of Art believes that each student is responsible for his or her own education. Although Montserrat stipulates certain degree requirements and makes general suggestions about sound academic programs, students are encouraged to make mature academic choices.

This notwithstanding, we realize that some students may need and want additional assistance and referral to support services (on or off-campus) to insure their success at Montserrat. The Advisor is an important resource for the students. Faculty advisors are here to assist students develop an educational plan consistent with their academic, career and life goals and objectives. Faculty advisors and students work together as mutual participants in the advising process. Faculty advisors can help students select appropriate courses, offer advice about concentration or career choices, discuss concerns regarding courses or programs, and direct students to additional campus resources for assistance with personal, financial or other nonacademic needs.

Students should meet regularly with their advisors to take advantage of their knowledge and advice. The Academic Advisors and other academic and student service personnel are available to assist the faculty in obtaining services for the students. We are committed to helping students help themselves.
