Montserrat College of Art in Massachusetts believes that each student is responsible for his or her own education. Although Montserrat stipulates certain degree requirements and makes general suggestions about sound academic programs, students are encouraged to make mature academic choices and to discover how to be an artist on their own.
This notwithstanding, we realize that some students may need and want additional academic advising and referral to support services (on or off-campus) to insure their success at Montserrat as they learn how to become an artist and evolve within their craft.
The Advisor is an important resource for the students:
Students should meet regularly with their advisors to take advantage of their knowledge and advice. When it comes to discovering how to be an artist, sometimes a little help results in a lot of advancement. The Academic Advisors and other academic and student service personnel are available to assist the faculty in obtaining services for the students. We are committed to helping students help themselves.
