Computer and Network Overview

At Montserrat College of Art in Massachusetts, we understand the changing needs for technology in art and strive to keep up with the latest products. Our computer labs are outfitted with current generation iMacs. We also offer color and grayscale laser printers, professional quality printers, a variety of flatbed and film scanners, drawing tablets and other technology to fit the students' needs. Every student at Montserrat College of Art in Massachusetts has a personal account on our student file server, so no matter which computer lab they are working in, they always have access to their personal files.

Purchasing College Computers for School

The computer labs at Montserrat College of Art in Massachusetts are Apple-driven. Though some students do successfully use Windows-based machines at home, we strongly recommend that any students considering a new computer for school purchase from Apple. Students can obtain educational discounts directly from the Apple Store.

For software purchases such as Adobe CS5 and Microsoft Office we recommend the Apple Store or Academic Superstore.

Your Montserrat E-mail Account

  • Your Montserrat e-mail account includes these features:
  • Retrieving your mail with a standard web browser from anywhere on the Internet
  • Personal online calendar, tasks and notes to keep track of appointments and events
  • Auto-reply messages for when you are away traveling or on vacation
  • Filters to reject unwanted mail
  • Built-in address book, spell checker and mail forwarding

How To Check Your E-mail:

  • Go to Campus E-Mail
  • Log in to the system using your username and your password.
  • Your e-mail address is: "(your username)@montserrat.edu"

Mail Forwarding To Other Accounts:

To have your Montserrat e-mail forwarded to other accounts (such as your ISP account at home or Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.) you can configure that on the system:

  • Go to Campus E-Mail
  • Select Options>General and in the field labeled "Forward all mail to the following address:" enter the e-mail address where you want to retrieve your Montserrat e-mail.
  • If you want mail to be delivered to the forwarded address and not stored on the Montserrat server as well, select the check box labeled "Don't deliver to this Mailbox."
