Starting Fall 2013. Looking for a candidate to teach courses in the Illustration Department (two courses per semester) and the Freshman Foundation Department (one course per semester), who will also take a leadership role in innovative curriculum development.
Beyond a commitment to teaching, all faculty of Montserrat College of Art are expected to contribute to the life of their departments, serve on committees, advise students, and demonstrate continued public engagement as artists and designers.
The successful candidate must possess experience in both teaching and professional practice as an illustrator, with emphasis on visual communication concepts, traditional and digital media, and the history of visual communication.
Illustration: Candidates should be prepared to discuss a working vision for the future of illustration, including new approaches to traditional outlets in print media, new applications made possible by digital media and the internet, as well as innovative venues for narrative imagery and visual communication.
Freshman Foundation: Candidates should be able to contribute to Montserrat’s Freshman Foundation Program by teaching in at least one of the following areas: Drawing, Painting, 2D Design, 3D Design or an introductory Digital Elective.
All candidates should have a minimum of two years full-time college teaching experience (or equivalent) and an MFA (terminal degree) or equivalent professional experience. Preferred qualifications include expertise in teaching courses in digital technologies (specifically Mac OSX platform Adobe Creative Suite).
